A moment in time

Our journey today brought us to Johannesburg. We will do more exploring of the city and the surrounding area tomorrow after the liturgy at the Cathedral (St. Mary the Virgin). This evening we ventured to a restaurant by the name of White Boy Sheebeen (http://www.whiteboyshebeen.com/). A sheebeen* is usually the territory of black Africans, but tonight we enjoyed the hospitality of the white boy who welcomed and fed us with a delicious array of foods from southern Africa. The attached photo includes our guest for the evening, Dean Charles of the Cathedral. Dean John and Bishop Councell will preach tomorrow (8 and 10am liturgies, respectively).

*sheenbeen: In South Africa and Zimbabwe, shebeens are most often located in black townships as an alternative to pubs and bars, where under apartheid and the Rhodesian era, black Africans could not enter a pub or bar reserved for whites.

  1. Looks as if the White Boy serves up some interesting drinks!

Tomorrow the Paparazzi will be mentally at the Johannesburg Cathedral while physically at the Trenton Cathedral. Thinking of you all!
