A post for the South Africa Pilgrimage Blog

Today's heavy experiences inspired the following reflection:

Africa by Ruth E. Perry, MD

Into a flying cocoon I curl
To unfurl
Into the primordial whorl
Of the motherland.

In human creation's cradle
Standing on mountain's table
Will I be able
To see diasporas past and to come?

Migrations outward created diversity
Spawned adversity
Ignited inequality
Can we fathom our different similarities.

Slavery-Colonization
Apartheid-Segregation
All de-humanization
Different names, mean the same.

Political oppression
Memory suppression
Spiritual regression
We all thirst for the grail's elixir.

  1. Ruth, this is excellent. You should publish it in the next issue of Trinity Times.
